What we collect
When you ask for a free audit
The form asks for your name, phone number, business name, trade, the area you cover and your website if you have one. Name, phone and business name are required; the rest is optional.
When you email us
Your email address, your name and anything you choose to put in the message.
When you browse the site
If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records how the site is used: pages viewed, roughly where you are (town or region, not your address), the device and browser, how you arrived, and whether you sent the form or tapped our email address. If you reject them, none of this is collected.
Like every website, our host also receives your IP address and browser details when it delivers the pages to you. It uses them to serve the site and protect it from attacks.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Reply to your audit request, research your area and competitors, and call or email you about the results | Steps you asked us to take before any contract, and our legitimate interest in answering business enquiries |
| Reply to emails you send us | Legitimate interests |
| Keep records if you become a client | Contract, and legal obligation (tax records) |
| Google Analytics | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Delivering and protecting the website | Legitimate interests |
We won't add you to a mailing list or send you marketing from the audit form. We'll contact you about the audit you asked for, and that's it unless you ask for more.
Who handles it for us
We don't sell or rent your details. A few services handle them on our behalf, only to do the job described:
- Web3Forms receives what you type into the audit form and forwards it to our inbox. We have set it to delete submissions from its systems after 30 days.
- Our email provider stores the form messages and any emails you send us.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and delivers the pages to you.
- Google (Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics), only if you accept analytics cookies. We've set Google Analytics not to use your data for advertising.
Some of these companies store data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the UK's adequacy regulations (including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or by the standard contract clauses approved for UK transfers.
How long we keep it
- Audit requests that don't lead to work: deleted within 12 months.
- Clients: kept while we work together, then for 6 years for tax and accounting records.
- Google Analytics data: deleted automatically after 14 months.
Cookies

| Name | What it's for | How long |
|---|---|---|
| br-consent | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so we don't ask on every page. Stored in your browser, never sent to us. Strictly necessary. | Until you clear your browser data |
| _ga | Google Analytics: tells visits from the same browser apart. Only set if you accept. | 2 years |
| _ga_<ID> | Google Analytics: keeps track of the current visit. Only set if you accept. | 2 years |
You can change your mind at any time: . If you switch from accept to reject, we delete the Google Analytics cookies straight away.
